HISTORY OF BOMBAY FOUNDATION OF DEAF WOMEN
Bombay Foundation of Deaf Women (BFDW) was founded on 4th December 1983 by a few deaf under the guidance of Miss. Renee Kuriyan of Delhi Foundation of Deaf Women (DFDW).
Today Bombay Foundation of Deaf women has more than 500 members, armed with ambition of covering all the deaf women and teenagers. With efforts of the managing committee, learning new and different stuff like art, craft, stitching, embroidery, purse making, aroma candle making, empowerment, awareness, sign language, education and many more. They also take part in competition in different parts of India and perform folk dances, sports and etc.
BFDW also started “Self Service Scheme” on policy of “Earn while to Learn” by which sells product made by the deaf women in exhibitions. The training provided in stitching and craft leads to employment to those with artistic talents.
In 2014 BFDW become affiliated to all India Foundation of Deaf Women (formerly National Foundation of Deaf Women). This year the organization Fixed location with space where committee meeting and workshops can conduct.
